Product Information

How should I store my sugar flowers once made?

Ideally, wrap the flowers in tissue and place them in a box. Store the box somewhere out of the heat for safekeeping. All completed creations can be kept in a glass display cabinet.

How long does sugarpaste take to dry

This depends on atmospheric conditions and the size of your flower/project. We recommend that you leave your flowers to dry overnight. Please see our recommendations below if you live in a more humid environment.

If you are using flower paste where humidity is present, first roll out and cut a test piece of the paste and leave it to dry for 24 hours. If it has not hardened to your requirements, then you can add gum trag or OMC (not CMC or tylose) to the flower paste. Knead well in and leave it to mature for 24 hours

How is flowerpaste best stored?

When you have finished using the product, pop it back into the tub, ensuring the lid is on. You can also place it inside an airtight container until you need it again. Store away from direct sunlight at a recommended temperature of 20°C.

If the flowerpaste is hard, pop it in the micro wave, In the pot,  for just a few seconds, no more.

Are the flavourings natural?

The majority are natural, and alongside these, we have flavouring preparations that enhance different applications, i.e. blends and flavour notes.

Usage & Application

Can I colour Beau Flowerpaste?

Yes: If you wish to add colour to our paste, we recommend that you use the ‘White’ paste. Brilliant white has white colour added. Coloured is ideal for any project you wish to dust. Once dusted, sugar flowers can be lightly steamed, giving excellent, vibrant results. We recommend that these items be removed from the cake before cutting, as the dust and colours may not be edible.

What should I roll my flowerpaste with?

Always use cornflower –  make a pouch up using (nappy liner) two tablespoons of Cornflour and tie with a ribbon to secure.

How do I use modelling chocolate for cake decorating?

It will come in a 100g pot like the flowerpaste. Real chocolate can be hard, so please place the pot in the microwave for a few seconds, just to make it pliable. If it becomes soft when using, place in the fridge for a while. It will not need any glue to hold together the chocolate holds
together naturally.

What's the best way to apply sugarpaste to a cake

We prefer the panel method over the cake method, as it is very economical and easier for beginners.

Roll the sugarpaste in a square when the measurement is the same as the sides plus the diameter on top of the cake.  Roll up using the rolling pin. Start at the side furthest away from you bringing the sugarpaste forward.

How do I achieve a smooth buttercream frosting?

Our Buttercreams arrive on the firm side, ready for the customer to add milk to enable them to achieve the desired consistency.
