Royal Icing is a hard white icing made from softly beaten egg whites and icing sugar. Use it on Christmas cakes, wedding cakes, gingerbread houses and many other cakes or cookies.
The first reference to “Royal Icing” dates back to the 1600’s. It gained the accolade “Royal” when it was used to coat and decorate Queen Victoria’s wedding cake in 1840.
